Personal Stories of Change Blog Carnival: Edition 11

Welcome to the 11th Edition of the Personal Stories of Change Blog Carnival. This is a big call, but I think this is the best edition of the carnival yet. Enjoy :)

artThailand presents Genesis of a gallery. Genesis of a life. posted at artThailand.

Wow – in this article Adam shares his truly inspiring story of personal change. In 2004 he was living a decent life and had a wonderful job in Switzerland. He writes, “I was hitting my peak and earning more than I could ever realistically spend”. However, Adam was then struck down with major health problems. He says, “the fact of being sick forced me to make decisions I would otherwise have avoided”. Be sure to head over to his article and read up on what he did next.

Charles H. Green presents Americans, Travel and Rushing to Judgment posted at Trust Matters.

Charles has written an excellent article about a topic very close to my heart: travel. He says, “my personal road to growth has been exposure to others. For me as an American, the benefit of international travel is enormous. Yet only something like 20% of us have a passport. Absurdly few of us speak another language – usually poorly at that.”

Alex Blackwell presents A Time for Thanksgiving posted at The Next 45 Years.

Recently Alex had an encounter with a homeless woman who approached him and simply said: “I’m hungry”. He writes, “I knew moments after ignoring the woman I was wrong. She was indeed hungry. My common sense told me this. My heart told me this. And I chose to ignore it. I did nothing. It’s time to do something now.” Be sure to see how Alex, and indeed all of us, can make a difference.

David B. Bohl presents Change: Too Close to See Your Progress posted at Slow Down Fast Today!.

As I’m sure you are aware by now, this carnival is all about change. David has identified an important, but perhaps under-appreciated, aspect related to changing your life. He writes, “have you ever made a big change in your life, but noticed that those around you don’t seem to have noticed? Making major changes to balance my life is more difficult when those changes don’t seem to be noticed.”

Christine presents Being Green in France: The Styrofoam Dilemma posted at Me, My Kid and Life: An American Single Mom Living in France.

In this article, Christine writes about a very important topic: recycling. As Christine recognizes, deciding to go and stay green is often far from the easiest choice. I am particularly impressed with Christine’s approach because, as a mother, she is setting a fantastic example for her daughter.

Tina Su presents How to Fight Your Fears posted at Think Simple. Be Decisive..

Tina has written a wonderful article about a topic I’m sure everyone can relate to: fear. She provides some helpful tips for how to fight your fears, but it is her personal story about fear and photographing people that was the highlight for me.

Brip Blap presents 2017 is the year of the bimillionaire posted at brip blap.

Brip Blap writes, “In 2017 I will be a bimillionaire. I plan to have $2 million in the bank.” Nice article, except haven’t you heard the world is ending in 2012? :)

SimoneM presents An Inspired Retirement on Sunset Boulevard posted at Outfit Inspirations.

This is a wonderfully simple article about loving the little things in an inspired retirement.

Lodewijk van den Broek presents This is my mission statement | How to be an Original posted at How to be an Original.

Lodewijk has written an excellent article about how he has shaped his life’s mission statement using his five personal core values. He writes, “that exercise in itself was life changing, but it’s only the start.”

kathmandau presents Some Things You Just Know posted at Into the Mist.

This is a very enjoyable article that brought back many personal memories of my 10 months living in the Canadian Rockies (ahhhh… the mountain life!). Kathmandau writes, “in December 1993, by many standards my life was wonderful. I was in a loving relationship. Also, my life was failing by some standards that I could not escape.”

Karen Shanley presents Of Brick Walls and Petty Tyrants posted at Karen Shanley.

Karen is a wonderful writer, who always manages to engage me from the first word and draw me into her wonderful world of kids and dogs. In this story, Karen gives her daughter a lesson about how the world works. I think we can all learn something from this.

Lola presents Who are you listening to? posted at Real World Spiritual and Personal Development.

This is a thought-provoking article that begs the question: who are you listening to? Lola writes, “whoever you are listening to is in control, so double check who’s in control of your life.”

Todd Goldfarb presents How to Meditate: A Beginners Guide posted at We The Change.

Todd quickly caught my attention in this article by identifying the problem many beginners such as myself have. As he says, “the real challenge is quieting the never-ending chatterbox that is always telling you something”. Todd has written some detailed recommendations for overcoming this problem that I will be sure to try out.

Gamy presents Mind the 5 posted at Mind Think Success.

This is an interesting article that was written as a part of my Think Different Challenge (which is still happening btw – if you would like to get involved be sure to check out the article). Gamy talks about the tough, but necessary, decision she had to make in cutting ties to friends that were depleting her time and energy.

That concludes this edition. My personal goal for the next 2 weeks is to avoid repeating something silly I did this week: submitting an article to my own carnival (I think that is a definite sign that I had one too many beers). If you would like to be involved in the next edition, please use the carnival submission form.

It is so wonderful to see my article in cyberspace (An Inspired retirement on Sunset Boulevard) which was submitted by my daughter, Simone. I am new to blogging and hope to develop my skills through sites such as yours.

    Compliments of the season.
