Personal Stories of Change Blog Carnival: Edition 13
Photo by Code Poet (above) and Fort Photo (below).
Welcome to the 13 Edition of the Personal Stories of Change Blog Carnival. It has been a month since the last edition so this is going to be a big one! For those readers unfamiliar with this carnival, basically I aim to present a collection of true and inspiring stories. You might say I want to put the personal back into personal development. So lets get to it…..
Alfa King presents Blogging year, against all odds posted at Alfa King Memories.
Alfa has written an account of his “Year of Blogging” in 2007. To be honest, I feel I could have almost written this article myself. He writes, “blogging has been a very fascinating experience. I’ve made lots of friends, albeit virtual; met quite a few established bloggers and writers. I’ve learnt a lot and still have a long way to go. Can you imagine how gratifying it is to be able to share your experiences, knowledge and skills with the world?”

Richard Derwent Cooke presents Speaking Your Truth, Without Rancour posted at Change & Stuff.
Richard writes about how he was recently upset by one of my family over the holidays. In wondering how to prevent the same thing happening again, he says: “last night, round midnight, it came to me in a gentle upwelling of clarity. I have to tell my truth without rancour and that is all I need to do.

Christine presents Finding Your Special Talent posted at Me, My Kid and Life: An American Single Mom Living in France.
This is one of my favourite articles this week. Christine writes, “there is a saying, ‘Do what you love and the money will follow.’ Honestly, it’s easier said than done. Mostly, because most of us don’t start out doing what we love or thinking that we can. Most of us are told to get a practical job and to ‘deal with it’ because ‘that’s life’. Remember, you don’t have to be one of those people when you raise your own children or choose a direction for your own life.”

Steve Pavlina presents Career Transitions posted at Steve Pavlina’s Personal Development Blog.
Steve has written a very insightful article based on his experience watching people undergo career transitions in the past few years, himself included. He offers some great advice that is, in his words, “a direct, guaranteed route to a career change. People do it all the time. And believe it or not, it actually works.”

Andrew Mason presents What’s Wrong With New Years Resolutions? posted at Did I Get Things Done?.
Andrew writes, “I kind of disagree with the idea behind New Years resolutions, and would like to share my thoughts into why I think they are flawed, and how they can be improved.” Thanks for the great suggestions Andrew.

Tim King presents 7 Steps to Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions posted at J. Timothy King’s Blog.
Here is another interesting article on New Year’s resolutions (I guess it is that time of the year). Tim writes, “I don’t usually make “New Year’s resolutions,” but this year I made one. And this is how I’m keeping it, in 7 steps.”
TherapyDoc presents At the Check-out posted at Everyone Needs Therapy.
Life lessons are everywhere, including the supermarket checkout it seems! TherapyDoc shares an interesting encounter that shows how it is possible to be grateful for what we have in life.

Albert Foong presents Psychology’s unique contribution to your Compassion and Self-Esteem posted at Urban Monk.
Albert has written a wonderful article on the topics of compassion and self-esteem. In the article he writes, “what, then, is self-esteem? Love for oneself. Compassion for yourself, for your past; a feeling that you are enough. Just you, and you alone. Why bring others into it?”

Patricia Singleton presents Being Honest With Myself posted at Spiritual Journey of a Lightworker.
Patricia has written a very personal article on an incredibly important topic: self-honesty. Her major realization is: “I am the only person that I can change.”

David B. Bohl presents Completing My Life - One Day at a Time posted at Slow Down Fast Today!
David writes, “I resolved never to leave things unsaid, and I’ve been working to fulfill that oath ever since. I want to notice, recognize, compliment, and affirm the people and instances in my life that matter.” Great idea David!

Blaine presents Before you love someone, learn to love yourself posted at BlainePower.com.
In this article Blaine emphasizes self-love, which he considers to be the cure for depression and bad decisions. He writes, “often times people fail in life because their lack of self-love encourages them to do things unproductive, and potentially harmful to themselves.”

CG Walters presents Truth is But a Resting Place posted at Into the Mist.
CG Walters writes, “many people are willing to accept that experiences and memories of the past become guides for our choices in the present, thereby dictating the future. Most people see these memories or experiences as defined once and never changing. I, on the other hand, am forced to view them as a more fluid commodity.”

James D. Brausch presents There Is Tons Of Money Available posted at jamesbrausch.com.
James offers some light-hearted food for thought on the topic of money. This includes some experiences that, in his words, “completely changed my perception of money. I no longer falsely believe that money is scarce.”

Shamelle presents A Journal Doesn’t Have To Be A ‘Dear Diary’ posted at Enhance Life.
Shamelle has written an enjoyable article about how her late grandfather showed her a journal can be so much more than the typical “Dear Diary”variety.

Tupelo Kenyon presents How to Live the Life of Your Dreams Through Intuition posted at Tupelo Kenyon.
Tupelo has written a very interesting article about following your intuition. He writes, “intuition feels good. That should be enough of a clue it’s something that can be trusted. But, our culture has done a thorough job of instilling doubt about the wisdom of following our instincts. Instead, we are taught to think things through and be logical. These mental tools are important, but they were never intended to be used instead of intuition. ”

Lorraine Cohen presents Law of Attraction: Creating The Impossible? posted at Powerfull Living.
Lorraine shares a recent experience where she could initially feel fear and distress beginning to bubble up inside her. But she writes, “when things appear to be impossible, take heart. You are more powerfull that you think.”

JC presents Law Of Attraction & Me posted at A Journey Of Dreams.
It’s nice to see someone taking a personal approach to the Law of Attraction. From the article, “I find it odd that with such a wealth of authors and bloggers telling us how to manifest the things we want, why is it that they never share with us the things that they’ve manifested? This is perhaps one of the things that interests me the most - seeing the success of others and seeing the Law Of Attraction in action.”

Thank you for hosting the carnival and including my post. It is interesting to find another blogger, Christine, who puts the point of my post in her own personal way. Finding who you really are and your special role in the world is priceless.
