Review: Personal Development Partners
It has now been approximately 6 weeks since the launch of Personal Development Partners (PDP), so I have (finally) decided to review the site that I have been spending quite some time at lately. PDP is a forum/ community for people interested in personal development created by Aaron Potts, perhaps the hardest working man in the personal development community (I have told him to relax once or twice).
So lets get right to it. The following are what I like about PDP:
The Forum
The site has a huge forum divided into a number of different topics, including Interpersonal Relations, Business & Entrepreneurship, and Health & Fitness (to name but a few). I would be very surprised if you don’t find at least 1 topic that interests you.
The Community
At the end of the day, a forum is made by the people who participate in it. It is no easy task getting a forum up and running, and kudos to Aaron for managing to build an active and ever-growing community in such a short time. Sure, it doesn’t have as many members as the Steve Pavlina forums (yet!), but there are enough active members to ensure some interesting discussions. And I challenge you to this: find a thread that has been created in which there have been no replies - I couldn’t find one.
My Experience With Becoming a “Thought Leader”
Personally, up until a week ago I was a free member. I have since upgraded to become a “Thought Leader”. This is giving my blog some great exposure, including a link in the sidebar and the inclusion of my RSS feed on the forums. I started a post in the Discuss Your Blog Post Here! section about one of my articles and was very impressed with the discussion it generated (find the thread “A Weekend Without Alcohol”). Finally, in the past week I have been able to explore the e-books and audio that come with the upgrade. Ok, I admit I found a few of these “average”, but for the most part the products are of a high quality. For example, I downloaded a “guided imagery” audio product which is something I would not normally listen to, but that I ended up loving.
Affiliate Program
Aaron has set up an affiliate program so that you can make money by referring people to PDP. It’s pretty simple really, especially if you have a blog. For example, I just recently stuck the PDP icon in my sidebar and a day later I already had one referral. Easy!

Hi Peter,
I just signed up myself using your referrer link. It looks like a great forum that Aaron made and I agree–He’s a hard working guy. The subscription upgrade price is more than fair, so I’ll play there for a bit and I’ll probably upgrade in a bit as well!!
Cheers,
Tristan

Thanks Peter,
Very interesting - I just signed up with your link, as well. I am fluent in both English and German but have switched back to writing my blog in German after 22 years in South Africa.
Are there any threads for discussion in German, or don’t they allow that? Well, I’ll find out soon enough.

Berend: well I just had a quick look at your site. I didn’t understand anything, but visually it looks great
. As I’m sure you have discovered by now, there is not a lot of German on PDP.
Tristan: I’m so happy to hear your office and house survived the fires in San Diego. I followed the story as it happened and my thoughts were with you.

Peter, I totally agree with you PDP is a great place to be in. Sad to say, I’ve not been exploring the forum as much as I’ve should but it’s definitely worth the time for the lurkers out there!
Cheers,
Ellesse
